Journalist Karki Sustains Eye Injuries While Covering Teachers' Protest in Baneshwor

When angry teachers tried to enter the prohibited zone at Baneshwor, police suddenly started firing water cannons. Barely had I taken out my mobile phone and turned it on to take the video of that incident, water cannons hit my face. I could not see, my mind went blank.

Sabina Karki, a journalist from Prime Television, sustained injuries on her eyes while covering the teachers' ongoing protest in Kathmandu on Sunday.
Talking to the media from a hospital bed at Tilganga Eye Hospital, Karki gave her account of the incident thus:  When angry teachers tried to enter the prohibited zone at Baneshwor, police suddenly started firing water cannons. Barely had I taken out my mobile and turned it on to take the video of that incident, water cannons hit my face. I could not see, my mind went blank.

Then I cried for help, a ma'am (one of the protesting teachers) called police who subsequently rushed me to the Civil Hospital.

Journalist Karki was later referred to the Tilganga Eye Hospital where she is receiving treatment.
