Road connectivity to three rural municipalities in western Myagdi has been cut off for the past three days after a massive landslide blocked the Beni–Darbang road.

The landslide struck Phaparkhet (Ghumaune), on the border between Beni Municipality–4 and Mangala Rural Municipality–2, disrupting direct access to Mangala, Malika, and Dhaulagiri rural municipalities since Thursday.

The obstruction has severely affected the movement of essential goods, halting the transport of daily supplies, construction materials, and agricultural products. Deliveries for major infrastructure projects, including hydropower, road, and transmission line works  have also been interrupted.

According to transport entrepreneur Yagya Bahadur Thapa, debris has completely covered the road, and continuous minor slides from above have made the area unsafe for vehicles and workers.

Officials at the Infrastructure Development Office, Myagdi, which is overseeing the road’s upgrade, said that machinery has now been deployed to clear the debris as rainfall subsided this morning. They added that efforts are underway to reopen the road and restore transportation as soon as possible.
