Interim Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Jagdish Kharel, has announced efforts to declare journalist Suresh Rajak, who lost his life during the protest on Chaitra 15, 2081 BS, as a martyr. The minister made the announcement while offering government employment to Rajak’s widow, Sujan Magiya, on Tuesday.
Sujan has been appointed to the Security Printing Center under the Ministry of Communication. Minister Kharel also assured support for her educational aspirations, stating that the government and he personally would assist her in pursuing studies at any campus of her choice.
Rajak lost his life while filming the protest at Tinkune. Minister Kharel emphasized that the process to officially recognize him as a journalist martyr will move forward, and the government is also reviewing the installation of a memorial in his honor. He added that the investigation into the incident is ongoing and all related matters are being thoroughly studied.
