Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the teachings of Buddha can lead toward world peace at a time when violence and conflicts have been escalating.
Only peace, sympathy and humanity can counter the threat from weapons under development for attacks from the seas, the land and air, he said at the fourth Asia Bouddha Cultural Festival organized by the Lumbini Development Trust and Sariputra Foundation on Saturday with support from the Chinese Cultural Promotion Society in Lumbini, the birthplace of Gautam Buddha and several other enlightened beings preceding him.
For the greater good of mankind, Gautam Buddha left behind a life of palatial luxury, he said, stressing the need to learn from his life.
The sacred land of Lumbini is the place of origin of Buddhist philosophy, PM Oli said remembering a historic struggle to preserve the Buddha’s teachings.
