Nabil Bank’s Chief Executive Officer, Gyanendra Dhungana, has resigned from his position. Dhungana, who is in the race to become the Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, submitted his resignation as the CEO of the bank on Sunday.
According to sources, although Dhungana submitted his resignation on Sunday, it has not yet been approved. It has been indicated that the bank’s board of directors will approve his resignation in an upcoming meeting. Dhungana is being considered a candidate for the position of Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank. With the Governor Recommendation Committee set to finalize its decision on Monday, Dhungana resigned from his post on Sunday.
A former president of the Nepal Bankers' Association, Dhungana is considered close to the Nepali Congress. Bankers and the private sector are also strongly advocating for his appointment as Governor.
