The government is preparing to present a bill on Dalit rights and development in the upcoming Federal Parliament session after receiving Cabinet approval and initiating the drafting process.

Finance Minister Rameshwar Khanal has said that preparations are underway to present a bill related to the rights and development of the Dalit community in the upcoming session of the Federal Parliament.
Speaking during a question–answer session with lawmakers at the National Assembly on Wednesday, he informed that the drafting process of the bill has already moved forward. According to him, the bill is being prepared based on the “Report 2081 on the Need for Legal Provisions Concerning the Rights and Development of the Dalit Community.”
He stated that in line with the directive to table the bill in the upcoming parliamentary session, the Council of Ministers approved the bill in principle on Poush 28, 2082. As per the concept paper, consultation with the Nepal Law Commission has been initiated to prepare the draft. Before sending a formal written request, there was an agreement to hold verbal consultations with the Commission. Following the completion of the verbal consultation, the Commission has indicated that it will proceed with drafting the bill upon receiving a written request.
Minister Khanal further informed that the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration would send a formal written request to the Nepal Law Commission today to begin drafting the bill.
