Locals Block Roads Demanding Justice for 12 Dead

Residents of Masanetar, Ward-6 in Manthali Municipality, Ramechhap, have blocked the roads to demand a proper investigation into Tuesday’s bus accident that killed 12 people.

Locals say that neither the local authorities nor the Arniko Transport Committee showed concern after the tragedy, which led them to stop traffic from early Wednesday morning.

Vehicles from Kathmandu are being stopped at Khurkot, those entering Manthali at Manthali Akashe, and buses leaving the village at Khimti.

The residents are asking for a full investigation, fair compensation for the families of the victims, and immediate medical help for the injured.

The accident happened when a bus (Province 3–01–005 Kha 9975) traveling from Kathmandu to Okhaldhunga fell into the Tamakoshi River on Tuesday, killing 12 passengers.
