Government Sets Sugarcane Support Price at 585 Rupees per Quintal

The government has set the support price for sugarcane. The new price has been increased by 20 rupees compared to last year. In Thursday's cabinet meeting, it was decided that the sugar mills will pay farmers 585 rupees per quintal for sugarcane. However, the government has yet to decide on the subsidy amount to be given to sugarcane farmers.

Agriculture and Livestock Development Minister Ramnath Adhikari proposed increasing the subsidy amount for farmers. However, considering the country's economic situation, the cabinet decided to determine the subsidy amount at a later time. Previously, the government had provided a subsidy of 70 rupees per quintal to sugarcane farmers, which was also distributed through the industries.
