The government has denied media reports claiming that Kathmandu Mayor Balen Shah pressured Prime Minister Sushila Karki to remove Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal from his position.
In a statement released on Thursday, the Prime Minister’s Secretariat said that appointing or removing ministers is the prime minister’s exclusive authority, and no one can influence such decisions.
The Secretariat called the reports “false and misleading,” adding that Home Minister Aryal has been working actively to maintain peace, prepare for upcoming elections, and boost the morale of security forces.
The statement, issued by the Prime Minister’s personal secretary Adarsha Kumar Shrestha, praised Aryal’s leadership during a sensitive time and said the government remains focused on ensuring stability and good governance.
It also requested everyone not to believe or spread rumors, confirming that Minister Aryal will continue in his role and that the government remains firm in its commitments.
