Nepali Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa said the law-making process will be accelerated without reducing parliamentary authority.
Speaking at a Q&A session on Thursday, he clarified that fast-track legislation is meant to deliver quicker results, not limit lawmakers’ powers. He added that parliamentary committees will be strengthened, provided with more resources, and opened to broader stakeholder participation.
Thapa admitted delays in key laws, including those related to education, health, and Dalit rights, and pledged to improve Parliament’s legislative capacity to pass them faster.
He also emphasized capital market reforms, including advanced monitoring systems to curb insider trading, strengthening investor protection, and making regulatory bodies more autonomous to ensure transparency and credibility.
