Nepali Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa has pledged to lead the party toward transparent governance and end the coalition politics that he said have long harmed Nepali politics.
Speaking at a direct Q&A program in Janakpur, Thapa said the party will correct past administrative mistakes and strengthen its core principles. He stated that a reformed Nepali Congress is committed to bringing real change in the country.
Thapa also announced that the party will no longer engage in power-sharing deals with other parties, either during elections or in government appointments. He said there will be no division of constitutional or political positions even after forming the government, and assured that no one will be humiliated under a Congress-led administration.
He further proposed limiting the number of ministries to 16 at the federal level and 6 in the provinces. Thapa said if the Nepali Congress wins a majority in the February 21 elections, the party will strictly follow this commitment.
He added that coalition governments usually increase the number of ministries due to political bargaining, but Congress will not exceed the promised limit.
