The District Police Range, Kathmandu has asked the public not to spread false, misleading, or fake information on social media using artificial intelligence (AI).
In a statement issued on Thursday, the police said they are concerned about the growing trend of sharing distorted and unverified content online. They requested everyone to avoid posting such information.
The police also said that a vehicle driver who assaulted and mistreated a pedestrian near Narayangopal Chowk in Maharajgunj along the Ring Road has been immediately arrested. Legal action against the accused is currently in process.
Kathmandu police said some social media users have been circulating edited photos, videos, and other misleading content related to the incident, which has created confusion and misrepresented the actual facts.
Police spokesperson and Superintendent of Police Pawan Kumar Bhattarai issued the statement and urged people to use social media responsibly.
