Senior leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Balen Shah, has stated that his party is committed to the overall development and preservation of Karnali’s civilization.
Addressing the “Hami Aayau Parivartan Udgosh Sabha,” he highlighted Karnali’s uniqueness, noting that it is home to the country’s longest river, largest district, largest rural municipality, and deepest lake. He claimed that no government or political party has truly understood this depth so far, adding that RSP aims to understand and address it.
Shah pointed out the irony that highly valuable Yarsagumba from Dolpa reaches global markets, while local products like apples and Marsi rice from Karnali struggle to reach even districts like Chitwan and Jhapa. He emphasized that RSP aims to ensure Karnali’s products are distributed nationwide.
He also stressed the importance of preserving Karnali’s cultural heritage, particularly Sinja Valley, which is considered the origin of the Nepali and Khas languages. He noted that the region’s language, script, art, music, and traditions form a rich civilization that must be protected.
Additionally, Shah highlighted ongoing issues in Karnali, including hunger, child mortality, and maternal mortality. He criticized past leaders for exploiting Karnali’s poverty without truly understanding it and expressed RSP’s commitment to carrying forward the dreams of Karnali’s people through its policy commitments.
