England have advanced to the semifinals of the ICC T20 World Cup after defeating Pakistan. In the Super 8 match held at Pallekele Stadium in Sri Lanka, England secured a two-wicket victory over Pakistan to book their place in the semifinals.
After winning the toss and choosing to bat first, Pakistan scored 164 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Chasing a target of 165 runs, England reached 166 for 8 in 19.1 overs to seal the win.
Captain Harry Brook starred in England’s victory with a impressive century, scoring 100 runs off 51 balls, including 10 fours and four sixes. Despite early dismissals of openers Phil Salt and Jos Buttler, Brook’s century guided England toward the target. Sam Curran contributed 16 runs and Will Jacks added 28. Liam Dawson (1) and Jofra Archer (5) remained unbeaten.
For Pakistan, Shaheen Shah Afridi took four wickets, while Mohammad Nawaz and Usman Tariq claimed two wickets each.
With back-to-back wins and four points, England have secured their place in the semifinals.
