Election Commission Nepal Election Commissioner Sagun Shumsher Jabara has urged all stakeholders involved in the upcoming elections to remain impartial and strictly follow the election code of conduct.
Speaking at a discussion program in Janakpurdham organized by the Election Commission and Nepal Law Society, he stressed that cooperation from political parties, candidates, media, civil society, security agencies, and government employees is essential to ensure effective implementation of the code.
Jabara said the main objective of the code of conduct is to guarantee voters can make independent decisions and to ensure elections are held in a free, fair, and fear-free environment with equal competition for all parties and candidates. He emphasized that the code serves to prevent unethical practices and called for collective efforts to conduct the elections peacefully.
At the same program, Madhesh Province Chief Minister Krishna Prasad Yadav stated that elections are necessary to restore stability in the country’s current challenging situation, adding that strict adherence to the code of conduct is the only way to ensure credible polls.
