EC urges media to report fair, unbiased news ahead of March 5 elections

Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari has asked the media to report fair, factual, and unbiased news during the upcoming House of Representatives (HoR) election on March 5.

Speaking to journalists at Janak Education Material Centre in Sanothimi, Bhandari warned against spreading one-sided or biased news and opinions during the election period.

He said the media should avoid supporting or criticizing any political party or candidate and should focus on reporting facts, as the election atmosphere is already set and polling day is approaching.

Bhandari also said the Election Commission (EC) is investigating violations of the election code of conduct and taking action against anyone breaking the rules. The EC is monitoring the implementation of the code of conduct across the country.

He added that the Commission is working hard to ensure the election is free, fair, and credible.
