The Election Commission (EC) has said it will deploy volunteers in all wards across the country to provide voter education.
According to the EC, volunteers will be mobilized in all 6,743 wards through district election offices. EC Assistant Spokesperson Kul Bahadur GC said the selection process has already started. Experienced people will be chosen from groups such as early childhood development facilitators, mother and child health workers, female community health volunteers, and community service center operators.
The EC approved this voter education program on February 2. GC said the main goal is to make voters well-informed so that their votes are not rejected as invalid.
The EC said voter education needs to be strengthened because even some votes in the National Assembly election were found to be invalid.
Preparations are underway to appoint the volunteers and provide them training in all seven provinces on February 15. After the training, the volunteers will be deployed in all 6,743 wards of 753 local levels by the second week of February.
