Police have arrested Durga Prasain, the coordinator of the “Nation, Nationality, Religion, Culture and Citizen Protection Campaign,” for the second time in connection with alleged election-related violations.

A Kathmandu Cyber Bureau team detained Prasain on Friday afternoon from Chalnakhel while he was on his way to attend a program in Birgunj. Police said the arrest was made following a complaint registered with the Cyber Bureau after a formal request from the Election Commission.

According to police, the Election Commission wrote to the Cyber Bureau citing violations of the House of Representatives Election Code of Conduct 2082 and offences under Section 47 of the Electronic Transactions Act 2074. Authorities said he was taken into custody for questioning as part of the investigation.
