Election Commissioner Sagun Shamsher J.B.R. has emphasized that election observers are vital for ensuring the upcoming House of Representatives election is free, fair, and impartial.

Addressing an orientation program at the Election Commission on Friday, he urged observers to have a thorough understanding of Nepal’s Constitution, election laws, and the current electoral environment. Recalling the important contribution of national observer organizations in past elections, he stated that similar expectations exist for this election.

The commissioner also stressed full compliance with the Election Commission’s newly released Observation Guidelines and Code of Conduct. He said, “Observers play a key role in making the election transparent and fear-free. Understanding the Constitution, laws, and election framework allows observers to perform effectively. The Code of Conduct must guide your actions on the ground.”

He further called observers the “eyes” of the election, urging them to apply the knowledge gained during the one-day orientation in practice.
