Prime Minister and Minister for Communications and Information Technology Sushila Karki will propose to withdraw the Social Media Bill in today’s meeting of the National Assembly.

The Cabinet had already decided to withdraw the bill during a meeting held last Tuesday. The bill was registered during the 17th session of the National Assembly and was being studied by the Assembly’s Legislative Management Committee.

As per today’s tentative agenda, Prime Minister Karki will also propose to pass the National Forensic Science Laboratory (Establishment and Operation) Bill, 2081. Before that, she will present the committee’s report on the bill for discussion.

Meanwhile, Mayaprasad Sharma, chairperson of the Public Policy and Assigned Legislation Committee, will present a proposal to discuss the study report on policy issues related to National Parks, 2082.

The National Assembly meeting will begin at 1:15 pm today. Before that, the Legislative Management Committee will meet at 11:00 am. In the committee meeting, members will hold a clause-by-clause discussion on the Immovable Cultural Heritage (Conservation) Bill, 2081, according to committee chair Tulsakumari Dahal.
