The Election Commission (EC) says it is fully prepared for the House of Representatives polls on March 5. Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari confirmed that all government-requested arrangements are in place and the commission is following its planned schedule.
Bhandari added that the EC’s readiness was conveyed in a meeting with Prime Minister Sushila Karki, political parties, ministers, and security chiefs. Despite some budget shortfalls, the Ministry of Finance has committed additional funds to ensure smooth preparations.
Out of the Rs 7 billion requested, Rs 5.96 billion has been secured. So far, 120 political parties have submitted applications to participate under the proportional representation system.
