The Election Commission (EC) has asked Jagdish Kharel, the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) candidate from Dolakha, to provide an explanation within three days.
According to EC legal officer Mohanraj Joshi, Kharel held a procession on January 20 that was larger than the allowed size during the candidate nomination process. The EC wants to know if party flags were used and whether the procession exceeded the limits set by the election code of conduct.
The Commission said this may violate Clause 13(1) of the Election Code of Conduct, 2082 BS, and has asked Kharel to clarify the issue. He has been instructed to submit the explanation either in person or through an authorised representative within the given time.
