Deepak Aryal Appointed as New Vice Chancellor of Tribhuvan University

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has appointed Professor Dr. Deepak Aryal as the new Vice Chancellor of Tribhuvan University. 

The decision was made based on the recommendation of a committee led by Education, Science, and Technology Minister Raghuji Pant. The committee had shortlisted three candidates for the role — acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khadga KC, former Dean of the Faculty of Science Prof. Dr. Binil Aryal, and former Director of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology Dr. Deepak Aryal.

After careful consideration, Prime Minister Oli, who also serves as the Chancellor of the university, selected Dr. Aryal for the top academic post. The position became vacant following the resignation of Prof. Dr. Keshar Jung Baral on April 10, 2025

Until now, the responsibility had been temporarily held by Dr. Khadga KC. Dr. Aryal’s appointment brings an end to the interim leadership, and expectations are high for his academic experience to help guide Nepal’s oldest and largest university towards reform and excellence.
