With the objective of speeding up project works, including maintenance and construction work at the Dauune section of the Narayangadh-Butwal road (NH-01), Narayangadh Butwal Road Project has announced the closure of the Daunne section for vehicular traffic from 11 am till 3 pm between April 9 and April 13 under the first phase.
Under the second phase, the same section will close from 11 pm till 5 pm between April 14 and April 28.
A source at the East Nawalparasi District Administration Office said a meeting of stakeholders, including project officials, security bodies and local representatives had decided on the partial closure of the Daunne section to speed up construction work and improve the condition of the road in view of the upcoming rainy season.
During the period, passenger vehicles such as buses, minibuses, microbuses and two-wheelers headed to Butwal will be stopped along the Hongsi Cement-Dumkibas Bazaar stretch while goods carriers such as trucks, lorries, tippers, trailers, tankers and heavy equipment will be stopped along the Chormara-Arunkhola Bazaar section.
As for vehicles heading toward Narayangadh, passenger vehicles such as buses, minibuses, microbuses will be stopped on the Chisapani-Bardghat stretch.
Goods carriers such as trucks, lorries, trailers, tippers, tankers and heavy equipment heading toward Narayangadh will be stopped along the Jyamire-Hakui section.
The project director has called all concerned to maintain lane discipline while stopping the vehicles and moving them, and not to overtake in a haphazard manner, warning that tough action will be taken as per the law in the case of violations.
The director has called all concerned to use the Gaindakot-Ramdi stretch of the Kaligandaki corridor as an alternative route during the period.
