Top leaders of Nepal’s three main political parties have gathered at Singha Durbar on Friday to talk about transitional justice.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Nepali Congress President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, and CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ are taking part in the meeting, which is currently going on.

According to Dahal’s office, the leaders are discussing unresolved issues related to Nepal’s transitional justice system — a major part of the peace process that followed the country’s civil war, but which has made little progress over the years.

Prime Minister Oli had first planned this meeting for Wednesday, but it was delayed because Dahal was out of Kathmandu. It was pushed back again on Thursday as he had still not returned.

Now that all three leaders are present, people are paying close attention to the talks. There is rising pressure on the government to finally take action and provide justice to those affected by the Maoist conflict, which lasted for ten years.
