The CPN-UML is holding a Central Secretariat meeting today to finalize its candidates for the upcoming House of Representatives elections scheduled for March 5.
According to Min Bahadur Shahi, coordinator of the party’s Publicity and Publication Department, the meeting will take place at the party’s central office on Saturday at 1 pm.
The party is preparing to officially approve its candidate list ahead of the nomination date on January 20 for all 165 constituencies. Candidate names have already been recommended by constituency coordination committees, district committees, and provincial committees.
Based on these recommendations, around 35 leaders including party chairman KP Sharma Oli have been unanimously proposed as candidates. As no election alliances have been decided so far, the UML plans to contest in all constituencies using its Sun election symbol.
Shahi said that finalizing candidates on Saturday will help nominees from remote areas reach their constituencies in time and complete the nomination process smoothly. He also noted that the Central Committee had earlier given the Secretariat the responsibility to finalize the candidates.
