The Chitwan District Court has granted bail to Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) leader Rabi Lamichhane in the Sahara Cooperative fund misappropriation case. He was ordered to pay a bail of Rs 5.4 million. The decision was made on Thursday by Judge Dayaram Dhakal. Lamichhane, who was taken into custody on Wednesday after the court heard the arguments, will be released once the bail amount is paid.
Lamichhane and 31 others are accused of stealing Rs 320.9 million from Sahara Cooperative. After the fraud case was filed, Lamichhane appeared in court on Wednesday to give his statement. The court held a final hearing on his detention on Thursday, which resulted in the bail decision.
Out of the 32 people charged, 12 face charges of both organized crime and fraud, while the others are only charged with fraud.
