Communications Minister Calls Gen Z Movement “Selfless & Transformative”

Minister for Communications and Information Technology Jagadish Kharel has said that no programme or dialogue is complete without the participation of Gen Z, stressing that the September 8–9 Gen Z Movement proved the power and determination of youth.

Speaking at a youth–media dialogue program, he said the movement broke the myth that “youth cannot bring change,” adding that they showed transformation is possible within 27 hours. He called the movement selfless, noting that the youths demanded only good governance and employment, not power.

Minister Kharel also urged young people to take frontline leadership, saying their role in upcoming party conventions and the March 5 HoR election will show how youth-friendly political parties really are.

Other speakers, including NA member Ganga Kumari Belbase, UNFPA representative Sriram Haridass, and FNJ President Nirmala Sharma, highlighted the need for youth participation, innovation, and accountability.
