The Armed Police Force (APF) Nepal is now celebrating its 24 years of establishment. Throughout the years, the APF has carried out various duties, focusing on border security, domestic security, revenue, customs and industrial security, and disaster risk reduction. The government has given the APF many responsibilities, such as controlling armed conflicts, separatist movements, and terrorist activities, managing riots, providing VIP security, and ensuring security at important places. The APF, with its presence in all districts across the country, is trying to establish itself as a dedicated border security force. It operates 254 border outposts along the borders with India and China. To make border security more effective, the force has been conducting border security and development programs in collaboration with India's and China’s border security mechanisms. According to joint spokesperson Thapa, the APF has successfully contributed Rs. 1.05 billion in revenue collection in the first six months of the current fiscal year by preventing smuggling and illegal imports. In the last fiscal year, this amount was Rs. 1.64 billion. The APF’s Foundation Day celebration is being held today at its headquarters in Halchowk, with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli as the chief guest.
