Israel launched a preemptive missile strike against Iran on Saturday. In response to the risk of possible retaliation, sirens were sounded across the country and citizens were instructed to remain in secure shelters.

According to Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz, the preemptive strike was carried out to neutralize potential threats from Iran. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has urged civilians to stay close to protected areas. Some international media outlets have claimed that the United States was also involved in the attack.

Meanwhile, citing Iranian officials, Reuters reported that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has been moved to a secure location outside Tehran. Iranian state media reported hearing explosions in Tehran and said mobile phone services were disrupted and internet connectivity weakened in some eastern and western parts of the city.

Following a security assessment, Israel shifted from a state of “full activity” to “essential activity,” closing educational institutions, public gatherings, and non-essential workplaces. Defense Minister Katz declared a nationwide special state of emergency under the Civil Defense Law, warning of possible missile and drone attacks targeting Israeli territory and civilians.

Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump described Iran as a “dangerous nation” and said the United States would need to make a major decision regarding nuclear talks. The third round of negotiations between Iran and the United States has already been held in Geneva, with the next round scheduled. Amid rising military tensions in the Middle East, the Israel–Iran conflict appears poised for further escalation.
