Cabinet to Discuss Gen-Z Uprising Probe Report This Week

The report prepared by the high-level probe commission on the Gen-Z uprising of September 8–9, 2025 will be presented at the upcoming cabinet meeting.

After the protests, the interim government led by Sushila Karki formed a probe commission under former judge Gauri Bahadur Karki to investigate the incident. The commission has already submitted its report to Prime Minister Karki.

According to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, the cabinet may decide to implement the report’s recommendations on the same day it is presented. Sources at Baluwatar say preparations are already being made to start implementing the recommendations even before a new government is formed.

The cabinet meeting is likely to take place on Wednesday or Thursday. Meanwhile, the Prime Minister and several ministers are reviewing the report.

Officials also say that once the recommendations are implemented, the current elected Members of Parliament may also take part in the process.
