Big Budget Boost for Irrigation Projects in Nepal

The government has announced a major investment in irrigation for the upcoming fiscal year.
 

Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel has set aside 8 billion rupees for two key projects , the Sikta Irrigation Project and the Greater Dang Irrigation Project. These projects aim to provide better water supply to farmlands in the region.

Another important project, the Bheri Babai Diversion Project, is also moving forward. The construction of its headworks and powerhouse is expected to be completed in the next two years. For this, the government has allocated 2.7 billion rupees.

To ensure existing irrigation systems keep running smoothly, 1.82 billion rupees has been allocated for maintenance and repair work across the country.

These steps are part of the government's plan to improve agriculture and support farmers by ensuring reliable water supply.
