Kathmandu, Nepal – On Friday, King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck of Bhutan visited two important religious sites in Kathmandu: Swayambhunath and Baudhanath.
The King arrived in Nepal earlier in the day from New Delhi. His first stop was Swayambhunath, also known as the Monkey Temple. He was welcomed by officials from the Swayambhu Management and Conservation Mahasamiti, the group responsible for the care of the site. The King spent about 30 minutes at Swayambhunath, enjoying the stunning views of the Kathmandu Valley from the temple's hilltop location.
After visiting Swayambhunath, the King traveled to Baudhanath Stupa, another significant religious site for both Nepali and Tibetan Buddhists. He offered prayers at Baudhanath, a place known for its large stupa and peaceful atmosphere.
The King’s visit to these sacred sites is part of his ongoing trip to Nepal. His time at Swayambhunath and Baudhanath was a moment for him to pay respects and connect with the spiritual heritage of Nepal.
