Bhagawati Neupane officially began her role as the new Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration (MoFAGA) on Wednesday evening. She arrived at the ministry office in Singha Durbar, where she was welcomed by Secretary Rabi Lal Panth and other officials.
Soon after taking office, Minister Neupane approved a proposal to form a committee. This committee, led by the head of the Federal Affairs Division and including representatives from related agencies, has been given three months to prepare a plan. The goal is to create national standards for how government offices are organized and managed at the federal, provincial, and local levels.
This task supports the Government of Nepal’s policy for the fiscal year 2025/26, which includes setting and applying national standards for government structure and operations at all levels.
Minister Neupane was appointed after the previous minister, Rajkumar Gupta, resigned. His resignation followed a scandal involving a leaked audio recording about a Rs 7.8 million bribe. Neupane took her oath of office and secrecy on Wednesday.
