The Government of Nepal has started a nationwide dengue awareness campaign from today, which will run throughout the Nepali month of Shrawan (mid-July to mid-August).

The campaign aims to spread awareness about preventing mosquito bites and controlling mosquito breeding. According to the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division under the Department of Health Services, the campaign will involve all levels of government, various ministries, and even Members of Parliament.

As part of the campaign, a special activity called "Every Friday, Clean Friday" will be held every Friday, where all public offices and institutions will clean their surroundings and search for mosquito breeding spots.

Another part of the campaign includes the message "One day a week for an hour is no problem" encouraging communities to come together once a week to find and destroy mosquito larvae.

Additionally, local governments in every ward will run door-to-door programs, put up posters, and use media to educate people about the symptoms, risks, and prevention of dengue.

So far this year, dengue cases have been confirmed in 73 districts, except in Humla, Dolpa, Manang, and Rasuwa. Doctors are urging everyone to take precautions and avoid mosquito bites to stay safe from dengue.
