Commercial banks saw a sharp decline in loan investments this Falgun, raising concerns about lending trends and economic impact.

In the month of Falgun (February 13-March 14), commercial banks provided loans worth only NPR 22.74 billion.
The loan investment of five banks decreased, while four banks could not even invest NPR 1 billion in loans. The banks whose loan investment decreased are Global IME Bank, Kumari Bank, NIC Asia Bank, Siddhartha Bank and Standard Chartered Bank.
Compared to Magh (January 14-February 12), Global IME Bank's loan investment fell by NPR 1.51 billion, bringing it down to NPR 429 billion. Kumari Bank's loan investment decreased by NPR 480 million, making it NPR 301 billion. NIC Asia Bank's loan investment dropped by NPR 2.55 billion, reaching NPR 469 billion. Siddhartha Bank's loan investment fell by NPR 930 million, making it NPR 215 billion. Standard Chartered Bank's loan investment decreased by NPR 40 million, bringing it to NPR 85 billion.
During the same period, Nepal Investment Mega Bank, Nepal SBI Bank and Prabhu Bank slightly increased their loan investments by NPR 190 million to NPR 380 million. The highest loan investment increase was by Rastriya Banijya Bank, which raised its loan investment by NPR 5.67 billion.
From Shrawan to Falgun (July 16-August 16), commercial banks' total loan investment increased by NPR 279 billion, reaching NPR 4,850.59 billion.
