Nepali Congress leader Arjun Narsingh KC has said that party president Gagan Thapa’s resignation is inappropriate.

Speaking to the media before the party’s central working committee meeting on Friday, he argued that leadership should not be judged solely on the basis of election victory or defeat.

He stated that a leader who entered the field promising to transform both the party and the country should not step down midway. “A captain who stepped forward to change the party and the nation should not leave in the middle,” KC said.

He also urged party workers not to panic over the election results. KC said the Nepali Congress would support efforts to protect democracy and called on the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) to ensure stability, prosperity, and development.

He added that long-standing distortions and weaknesses within the party cannot be resolved overnight, noting that expecting dramatic change within just 50 days is unrealistic.
