Air quality in Kathmandu Valley and other parts of Nepal is deteriorating rapidly, with experts warning of rising health risks. As of 9 a.m. today, Surkhet recorded the highest pollution at 170 PPM, followed by Bhaktapur (132 PPM), Deukhuri in Dang (124 PPM), Shankha Park, Kathmandu (123 PPM), and Khumaltar, Lalitpur (105 PPM). Shankha Park alone saw a sharp jump from 73 PPM yesterday.

Experts attribute the worsening air quality to dry weather, stagnant air, crop residue burning, and environmentally unfriendly construction activities.

Meanwhile, neighbouring Delhi is facing “Very Poor” air conditions, with an average AQI of 391. Some areas recorded critically high levels: Bawana (436), Patparganj (425), RK Puram (422), Alipur (415), and Anand Vihar (412).

Authorities in both regions have urged residents, especially children, the elderly, and those with respiratory issues, to limit outdoor activities and take precautions as hazardous pollution levels persist.
