CPN-UML Chair and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has accused the government of shielding those involved in crimes during the Gen-Z movement, saying justice has been delayed and denied.
Speaking at a central committee meeting of the National Youth Association Nepal in Kathmandu on Sunday, Oli said it is time for youths to raise their voices through peaceful demonstrations. He urged them not to be intimidated even if the government refuses permission to protest.
“The constitution gives every citizen the right to peaceful protest,” Oli said. “If the government denies approval, it doesn’t matter, no CDO’s order can override the constitution.”
He also emphasized that demonstrations demanding the reinstatement of the House of Representatives are legitimate and necessary, adding that the government’s inaction on major issues has raised serious concerns about governance and accountability.
