14 Athletes to Vie for the Peak at National Sport Climbing Competition 2025

At the two-day Nepal Sport Climbing Championship 2025 that began in Kathmandu Sport Climbing Center, Kaldhara, on Friday, six women athletes and eight men athletes have made it to the finals out of 19 athletes—six female and 13 male. 

A panel consisting of Chief Judge Gyalje Sherpa,Judges Pasang Kitar, Jyamchyang Bhote and Anup Gurung, and General Secretary of Nepal Climbing Sport Association (the organizer), Santosh Maden, selected the finalists. 

In the women's category (Bouldering), Swastika Chaudhary came first, followed by Rusha Pradhan, Manisha Budha Magar, Panchamaya Tamang, Tenzing Khando Tamang and Santoshi Magar in the final round. 

In the semifinal/qualification Round of Male Boulder & Lead Combine, Raunak Upreti was ranked first with a combined total point of 2000, followed by Sajan Lama (1495), Pemba Tsewang Sherpa Rai (1415), Sulav Rai (1300), Tenzing Rai (1090), Sunil Tamang (950), Rajan Bhattarai (910) and Santosh Blon (805) . 

The finals will take place at the climbing center, at 10 am on Saturday (March 22)

Cash prizes and medals
 

The three top finalists from each category will walk away with a cash prize of Rs 50,000, Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000, along with medals and certificates.  
 
The annual national sport climbing championship goes years back. But this is the first championship being organized by a new team of the Nepal Climbing Sports Association, sub-coordinator for the event, Pranil Man Shrestha, informed.
 
We plan to organize junior and youth climbing competitions every year, he said: The aim of these activities is to promote and develop sport climbing, Shrestha said.
