With the Supreme Court reopening writ registration, 10 petitions have been filed challenging the dissolution of the House of Representatives.
The filings follow disruptions caused during the Gen-Z protests on Bhadra 24, when the Supreme Court premises suffered fire and vandalism. As a result, all activities except urgent hearings and prisoner-related matters were suspended for a period.
Now that registration and hearings have resumed, the petitions request annulment of the Prime Minister’s appointment and the House dissolution, as well as the reinstatement of Parliament, said Supreme Court spokesperson Arjun Prasad Koirala.
The petitions are currently under review and have not yet been officially registered. On Asoj 26, the full bench of the Supreme Court, led by Chief Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut, had decided to resume writ registration and hearings.
