A depleted Lalitpur City FC, the defending champions, entered the final of Nepal Super League’s third season defeating Dhangadhi FC 2-1 in the first semi-final at Dasharath Stadium on Saturday.

Mani Kumar Lama of Lalitpur was wrongly shown a red card in the 16th minute after colliding with Mohamed El Jaaouani, despite the latter’s foul. It took the match officials about four minutes to convince Lalitpur and resume the game.

Despite being down to 10 men, Lalitpur defeated Dhangadhi, the NSL runner-up in the last two seasons.
Lalitpur led first with Kervens Belfort scoring in the 57th minute. An equalizer from Dhangadhi came with George Karki scoring in the 61st minute.
However, after Papa Kebe extended the lead in the 79th minute, Dhangadhi could not find the net again, despite several attempts, one of which came with a red card.
Jorge Caceido got his second yellow after he deliberately fouled a Lalitpur player seconds before the blowing of the final whistle, effectively barring him from Dhangadhi’s game in the next semi-final.

Dhangadhi still have a glimmer of hope as they can enter the final if they defeat the winner of the elimination round—between Pokhara Thunders FC and FC Chitwan.
