The Flood Forecasting Division under the Department of Water and Meteorology has issued a yellow alert for 25 districts across the country, warning of potential flood risks and urging the public to remain alert and prepared.
According to the latest bulletin, major rivers including the Koshi, Mahakali, Kamala, Bagmati, East Rapti, West Rapti, Babai, and Kankai are currently flowing below danger levels. However, a rise in water levels has been recorded at several gauging stations in the Narayani and Karnali river basins, prompting closer monitoring.
The Division has warned of a moderate risk of flash floods in parts of the Far-Western and Mid-Western regions, particularly in Kanchanpur, Kailali, Dadeldhura, Doti, Surkhet, Salyan, Rolpa, Pyuthan, Jajarkot, and Dailekh districts. The flow of small rivers in these areas is expected to increase significantly throughout the day.
Similarly, moderate flood risks have been forecasted for hilly districts in the central and western parts of the country. Areas under alert include Sindhupalchowk, Kavrepalanchowk, Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Makawanpur, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha, Lamjung, Kaski, Syangja, Baglung, Parbat, and Palpa.
Authorities have urged residents living near riverbanks and flood-prone zones to stay informed and take necessary precautions. The Division continues to monitor water levels and weather patterns, with further updates expected as conditions evolve.
