Two vehicles parked in different places in Kathmandu were set on fire by an unknown group on Monday night.
According to police spokesperson SP Pawan Bhattarai of the Kathmandu District Police Office, the incidents took place in Naikap and Maharajgunj.
A Toyota car with the number Ba 28 Cha 36 parked near the office of Sipradi Trading in Naikap and a Maruti van (Ba 7 Cha 1401) parked near Capital Petrol Pump in Maharajgunj were burnt.
Police said leaflets linked to a group led by medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai were found at both places.
Preliminary investigation shows the arson may have been done by a group trying to disturb the upcoming House of Representatives by-election on March 5.
Both vehicles were damaged in the fire. Police have started searching for the people involved, and CCTV footage from nearby areas is being checked.
