What Is Prohibited During the Election Silence Period?
The silence period has begun for the House of Representatives election scheduled for Thursday. The Election Commission enforces this 48-hour period before voting, during which political parties, candidates, media, voters, and all concerned parties must follow special rules.
No Vote Solicitation
No one is allowed to ask for votes in any manner. The use of sound systems, SMS, social media, or any other means for election campaigning is strictly prohibited.
Restrictions on Social Media
Posting, sharing, or promoting any message or content in favor of or against any political party or candidate through social media, online platforms, print, or other media is not allowed.
Ban on Campaign Activities
Discussions, interactions, mass meetings, workshops, seminars, or any form of election campaigning are prohibited during this period.
No Public Gatherings or Celebrations
Organizing feasts, playing music, dancing, holding rallies, demonstrations, public events, or creating disturbances is not permitted.
No Obstruction to Voting
From three hours before voting begins until it ends, no one may obstruct voters, polling officials, or the voting process at polling centers.
Removal of Campaign Materials
All campaign materials placed within 300 meters of polling stations must be removed 48 hours before voting day.
Removal of Online Advertisements
Political parties, candidates, and affiliated organizations must take down social media advertisements and campaign materials.
Maintain Peace at Polling Centers
No activities that disturb peace, create fear, or disrupt the election environment are allowed in or around polling stations.
