With the House of Representatives election on Falgun 21, Nepal’s security agencies, Election Commission, Human Rights Commission, and courts are actively preparing to ensure a peaceful and fair vote.
High-profile and sensitive constituencies, including Sarlahi-4 and Jhapa-5, are under special security measures, with police teams deployed under senior officer supervision. A Central Election Operations Cell has been set up to monitor security nationwide.
The Election Commission is enforcing the code of conduct and controlling misinformation, while the Human Rights Commission will monitor accessibility for women, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities.
The Supreme Court has also blocked political appointments during the election period, including the Managing Director selection for Nepal Airlines, citing the code of conduct.
The Ministry of Home Affairs is promoting ward-level coordination to involve local parties and civil society, ensuring a transparent and inclusive election process.
