Today, three companies from the UK, Italy, and Japan are collaborating on a new project to create a fighter jet. This triangular-shaped aircraft is considered complex due to its advanced technologies. One of its most interesting features is that pilots will use virtual reality technology. This means that vital information will be displayed directly in their line of sight, making it easier for them to process data while flying.
The ultimate goal for this new fighter jet is to take it to the skies by 2035. The three companies, BAE Systems from the UK, Leonardo from Italy, and Japan Aircraft Industrial Enhancement (JAIC) are working together on the project. Each company will own one-third of the newly formed joint venture, which is subject to regulatory approvals.
Though the UK will have the main office for Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP), the work will be carried out in each of the partner nations. According to the agreement, the first CEO of this new joint venture will be selected from Italy. As stated by Charles Woodburn, the CEO of BAE Systems (a UK company), the new initiative will combine the strengths of all the companies involved to create an innovative organization. This will help develop a next-generation combat air system and create long-term, skilled jobs in all the partner nations for the future.
Similarly, Kimito Nakae, the president of JAIEC (a Japanese company), expressed his strong belief in the spirit of trilateral cooperation, which will not only ensure the completion of the project but also help overcome any challenges that arise."
