In recent days, the temperature has been rising across Nepal, including in the Kathmandu valley, thanks to a scorching Sun.

Today, the maximum temperature in Kathmandu is expected to reach 30–32 degrees Celsius, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology. Yesterday, the temperature in Kathmandu reached 32 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature recorded yesterday was 40 degrees Celsius in Bhairahawa, while Simara and Janakpur saw 39 degrees, and Biratnagar and Dharan recorded 37 degrees Celsius.

Meteorologist Pratibha Manandhar explained that the rise in temperature is due to the pre-monsoon conditions and the lack of sufficient rainfall in recent days. She mentioned that the current temperature increase is a typical pre-monsoon activity and predicted that the temperature will continue to rise.

The department also noted that there is some effect of western winds, local winds and moisture-laden winds from the Arabian Sea.

Today, the weather in the hilly regions will be partly cloudy to generally cloudy, while the rest of the country will see mostly clear to partially cloudy weather. In the afternoon, there is a chance of light rain with thunder and lightning in some areas of the hilly regions of Koshi, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces, and light snowfall in a few places in the Himalayan region.

There is also a possibility of strong winds in some areas of the Terai regions of Madhesh and Lumbini provinces as well as the valley may experience occasional rain, similar to yesterday.
