The 21st convocation ceremony of Pokhara University was held today in Pokhara.

Addressing the ceremony, Prime Minister and Chancellor of the university, Sushila Karki, urged graduating students to actively contribute to nation-building.

She stated that convocation is not merely the formal conclusion of an academic journey, but a new and significant beginning in life. She emphasized that highly educated youth should not limit their knowledge and skills to personal advancement, but use them for the progress of the nation and society.

Highlighting the need for skilled, honest, and responsible human resources for the country’s development and prosperity, she stressed prioritizing education based on innovation, entrepreneurship, and research.

In the context of a rapidly changing global environment, she advised youth to adapt to new technologies to remain competitive and capable. She also noted that universities should provide timely, practical, and employment-oriented education.

Expressing concern over the growing trend of youth going abroad immediately after completing their studies, she stressed the need for collaboration between universities, the government, and the private sector to create opportunities within the country. She emphasized that curricula and teaching methods should be oriented toward entrepreneurship and self-reliance.

Prime Minister Karki also highlighted that discipline, hard work, and human values are the foundation of long-term success, urging graduates to move forward with positivity, integrity, and a sense of responsibility.

She further called for active participation in the upcoming elections to strengthen democracy, promote good governance, and build a corruption-free nation.

The ceremony was attended by university officials, professors, parents, and students.
