The Supreme Court has set Falgun 22, the day after the elections on Falgun 21, as the hearing date for writ petitions challenging the dissolution of the House of Representatives.
Advocate Kritinath Sharma Paudel, one of the petitioners, confirmed that the court has issued the general date for the hearing, which comes immediately after the polls.
Previously, on Kartik 12, the Constitutional Bench of the Supreme Court conducted a preliminary hearing on 16 writ petitions. The court had directed all respondents to submit written replies within seven days, except for procedural extensions.
The petitions were filed separately by CPN-UML lawmakers and the Nepali Congress, challenging the dissolution of the House and questioning the legality of current government actions. While all respondents have submitted their written responses, the court has yet to finalize the detailed hearing schedule.
The writs argue that the House dissolution was unconstitutional and seek its annulment. They also claim that the appointment of Prime Minister Sushila Karki is unconstitutional.
